Building Back Better
Samenvatting
This timely book explores the key lessons that can be learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, adopting a forward-looking approach to the socio-economic rights of vulnerable groups. It highlights the ways in which we can better prepare for future times of crises.
Contributing authors utilize a human rights-based approach centred on equality, in order to deepen current knowledge and understanding of a range of economic, social and cultural rights issues, including often neglected rights such as the right to science. In addition, they advocate for the (re-)prioritization of the domestic implementation of socio-economic rights protection. They explore how this can be achieved via increased investment in scientific progress and its applications, by regulating private actors, and with increased international cooperation.
Building on important research in the field, this innovative book is an essential resource for human rights scholars and law students looking to broaden their knowledge of key socio-economic challenges post-COVID. Policymakers and human rights organizations seeking to understand the inequalities compounded by the pandemic will also benefit from this prescient book.
