Over Joris Voorhoeve

Joris Voorhoeve (1945) was hoogleraar Internationale Organisaties aan vier universiteiten. Hij is voorzitter van de Raad van Toezicht van de hulporganisatie Oxfam International en covoorzitter van het Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict. Hij was vanaf 1982 lid van de Tweede Kamer, fractievoorzitter van de VVD en directeur van Instituut Clingendael. Na vier jaar ministerschap werd hij lid van de Raad van State. In 2010 is hij overgestapt naar D66. Van zijn hand verscheen in 2011 'Negen plagen tegelijk. Hoe overleven we de toekomst?', dat geroemd werd door de huidige Eurocommissaris Frans Timmermans als een prachtige, gezaghebbende maar huiveringwekkende analyse van de wereldproblemen die ons te wachten staan.
